Crucible
Copyright ©
2002 Imp Games. All Rights Reserved.
"Crucible depicts a bleak future where
warlords struggle for control of a vast world. Each player
starts as a small provincial power; however, these powers
quickly absorb neighboring provinces and grow into empires,
which inevitably clash over resources and population.
This game represents an attempt to create a
“pure” war game. All players start with equal
resources--only wise diplomacy and clever strategy can
differentiate the winners from the losers. In addition, players
may choose to play simultaneously, allowing attacks by multiple
players, or three-way battles.
The setting of Crucible occurs on a future
Earth, decades after a catastrophe has devastated the global
power structure. Organized communication and structured
militaries have vanished, and local bosses and warlords have
replaced nation-states.
But in the midst of this chaos, six groups have
thrived and grown. Whether through strident belief, or through
efficient government, or through careful preservation of past
technology, these new powers have begun to lift themselves above
their bickering neighbors.
Now, you control one of these groups, and you
can build your empire any way you choose. Become a maritime
power, or build enormous armies to control resources. Either
way, you’ll quickly find you have competition…."

SQUARES - The Civil War
Battle Game
Copyright ©
1995 G. Meyers. All Rights Reserved.
"An abstract recreation of a classical Civil War
engagement between the blue and the gray. The essential
elements of mid-19th Century military doctrine have been
faithfully reproduced and incorporated into a highly playable
and realistic game system. A player's forces are made up of
Infantry Brigades, Artillery Batteries and Cavalry Squadrons.
Play proceeds in what can best be described as chess-like;
players taking sequential turns performing a limited number of
actions per turn. This process effectively portrays the
simultaneity of conflict, without the usual complications of
pre-recorded moves and orders. Individual battles are quickly
resolved based on a player's force of will and audacity, but
no one comes out unscathed. There is a tense ebb and flow to
the game that must be experienced to be appreciated."

in Europe.

"The World at War is widely recognized
as the most successful and best Axis & Allies variant

to the game by arming players with a much broader variety of
strategies, special forces and options.
The World at War comes complete with over
200 plastic playing pieces, a new map, rules, and new set up
charts. One of the key features of the game is the
starting time and that France (also includes the Netherlands
and Belgium) and China are now separate players.
Additional features include special troops
such as paratroopers, marines, German SS and Russian guards.
The present owner of Xeno Games liked this game so much, that
he bought the company."
